Castlegar general manager receives certificates in local government

The Castlegar general manager was honored for his service last week, July 18e.

CAO Chris Barlow received certificates in Service Delivery and Local Government Administration.

Mayor Kirk Duff shared a few words from the Provincial Board of Examiners:

“…. But this (letter) was dated November 29e 2021 so we were still in the middle of COVID and it wasn’t in person; it took a while and now we are there…. “One of the main functions of the council is to issue local government certificates to local government officials who qualify under council regulations. Christopher is to be congratulated for this achievement which recognizes both his academic qualifications and his work experience in the field of local government. Sincerely, Nicola Marotz, president of the examination jury.

CAO Barlow was eager to share his own words:

“…. All thanks to the support of the City, both the staff who support me as well as the advice and just a great organization that allowed me to deepen both my experience and my education, so thank you very much.

The General Manager held a variety of titles during his 18-plus year tenure, including Engineering Technician and Director of Transportation and Civic Works. An outgoing member of staff was also recognized last week, with Castlegar’s Director of Emergency Social Services receiving a framed photo.
