OBIO/AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL SUPPORTS RUMUOADAOLU COMMUNITY WITH PROCESSOR

Says the development of human capital, best form of empowerment in society.

Obio/Akpor Local Government Council Chairman Barr George Ariolu proposed the purchase of a brand new transformer to facilitate the flow of electricity supply in the Rumuadaolu community.

He said the transformer will be procured and made available for use by the end of March 2022 to improve the standard of living and ease of doing business in the region.

He added that communities under the Local Government Council should not be separated from the corridors of governance and government.

The President of the Council revealed this on Thursday, when members of the Rumuadaolu community paid him a courtesy call at the Council headquarters in Rumuodomaya.

Addressing community members, Ariolu expressed his joy at the visit, reiterating that his administration is open to host communities within the LGA for the benefit of the people, insisting that government councils local around the world are the closest to the base.

While praising the people of Rumuadaolu community for their leadership, he saw the society as dynamic and pragmatic, as some things change over time.

Reiterating the will and commitment of his administration to improve living conditions and develop the region, he stressed the need to train more people, especially young people, in several skills and vocations that will enable them to empower and strengthen society, describing the development of human capital as the best form of empowerment in society.

Likewise, he recounted the achievements of his administration in the education sector which enabled the council to offer scholarships to more than fifty students who are pursuing their doctorate and another fifty for master’s students, adding that ‘Before the end of his administration, more than 250 of them must have graduated.

He added that the time is over when people considered local government as garbage, saying it is the third level of government that owes the people the responsibility for good governance.

According to him, if good governance is achieved at the local government level, it will be actualized at all levels of government.

Speaking further, Ariolu who attributed the urbanization of Obio/Akpor to Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike’s robust and huge urban development programs, praised him for transforming the LGA into a metropolitan city.

Earlier, the Supreme Ruler of Rumuadaolu Community, Eze Henry Hanachor who hailed the council chairman’s initiative and development progress, assured him of the support of the people of the community.

While expressing his optimism that Ariolu’s administration will register huge success, he said the President has shown readiness and commitment to serving the people through his people-oriented activities and achievements which empowered members of local government.
