Road closures for the 2022 Blaydon Race
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys on Thursday 9th June due to the unfolding of the Blaydon Race.
The roads will be closed from 6 p.m.
The annual road race will take place for the first time since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event will depart from Newcastle Quayside for the first time and to ensure the event runs safely, it is necessary to introduce temporary road closures on the following roads.

Closures will begin at 6 p.m. and will be in place until 9:30 p.m.
The closures are likely to cause traffic jams in Newcastle city centre, Gateshead town center and Blaydon as well as other roads in and out of the area.
Fully signposted diversions will be in place, but drivers are urged to avoid affected areas if possible and allow extra time for journeys.
The event organisers, Northumbria Police, Gateshead and Newcastle Council apologize for any inconvenience or delay this event may cause and thank everyone for their patience and cooperation.
