Thomas Sanfratello joins Alexander Town board
After a closed-door interview Monday night, Thomas A. Sanfratello was selected by the Alexander City Council to fill a vacancy.
Sanfratello replaces Carol Wolfley, who resigned April 13. Her resignation letter was ambiguous as to whether she is simply dissatisfied with her own professional performance or something related to the city council.
“This decision was not taken lightly,” she wrote. “For the past few months, I have wondered if I served the taxpayers of the City of Alexander in their best interests. After Monday’s meeting and thinking about it for over 36 hours, I am not! “
Wolfley declined to answer questions about his resignation.
Sanfratello said no particular issue prompted him to seek the open seat.
“I just wanted to get involved in the community and see how it works and do my best,” Sanfratello said.
It’s not retirement work, said Sanfratello, who works for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office as a civilian sergeant. He said retirement is still a few years away.
The other candidate for the position was Jerry Krupka.
